Hi

am between two places at the moment due to family and health reasons

Am going to need to buy some new kit
Have been really happy with Marantz CD52MkII Se, Sugden A25 Amp and Rogers LS4a for years
The Cd player is dying draw doesnt woork and skips on first track of loads of CDs

Also had problems with Kitchen/bathroom/bedroom stuff an old Sony Amp TA-1630 which I dont know weteher to get fixed it is dated have replaced with a Technics SU-X911 which I am really pleased with well worth the £20 I paid for it
and the Sony DVD player I was using as a CD player keeps blowing fuses DVP-S725D will probably get fixed depending on problem and cost of repair

Also have Denon DCD-700Ae Nad3020i Castle Warwick which I am really pleased with all got for just under £200 in the last years
Always on the look out for good cheap stuff but feel its time to spend a bit more on a new system

I am a classical music fan mainly listen to Orchestral music some opera and string quartets Really gone off Radio 3 and BBC in general partly due to problems with licence fee I dont watch telly and aint paying for the licence fee again they have treated me like dirt

I have damaged hearing I am 44 went to loads of load Rock/Punk/Indies gigs in the eighties and nineties and also had loads of ear infections a few years ago was having so many problems I even had a MRI scan luckily didnt turn up anything. Deffinately cant hear upto 20kHzs anymore

Cheers
David

Hello and welcome to AoS David. Nice intro that, lets us know what your intent is. Finding kit can be a nightmare when you need several items all at once. if you need any help then open a thread in blank canvas and some opinions will arrive.

cheers Grant

Hi David. Welcome from me too.

Another one with hearing problems I see. There are a few here, me included.

I see you have an eye for a bargain. I like a good price too.

Start a thread in the Blank Canvas section outlining what equipment you have in mind to upgrade to and what budget you are working to. You'll get plenty of opinion and advice.

Enjoy AOS,
Geoff.

Welcome to AoS David.

Can't really add anymore to what others have said concerning equipment replacement. Let us have some idea of budget and what sort of sound you are looking for and I'm sure you will receive a lot of helpful advice.

By the way, if you don't have a television you don't need a licence to listen to radio.

Enjoy the Forum

Barry

Will give it a try, the Marantz is currently in the kitchen as I am doing the front room up so moved everything out had the decoraters round on Saturday now need to strip the floor down to the floorboards and get some new flooring laid
Got myself a TEAC H500 system just after christmass so not considering using the Marantz in the bedroom for a while getting fed up with using a knife to lever the drawer open too much of a faff when trying to chill out
Finding the TEAC PD-H500 a bit dry though but very pleased with the A-H500 amp :)
and the Sony seems to be working fine
So at the moment really using the Marantz as I anint bothered if it gets damaged while doing DIY

Don't worry too much , hearing starts dropping off fro the age of 20
Whilst studying sound engineering out of aroom of 20 guys in their 20's only 1 could hear 20Khz and 1 could hear beyond that and his nose started gushing blood

Hi David.

welcome to AOS from a fellow Sheffield-er... :) Sorry to hear about your hearing... I was a big fan of The Leadmill back in the day, went there 2-3 times a week back in the 90's.
