Need something good, thinking Marantz or similar but anything considered, Cosmetics not important but mustn't be fussy about reading discs. Don't want to go over £100 shipped but will consider spending more if warranted. Nothing with valves in.

Thanks :)

Hi Martin, I've got a Sansui CDD 201V, one year old, little used and now surplus to requirements.
Yours for £50 plus carriage.

David - I'm considering about the Sansui but I'm after something a bit more esoteric than that I think.

That KI sig looks very good but I'm not keen on paying the premium for the 'KI' bit...will keep an eye on it though, cheers :)

I have a Marantz that behaved a bit odd so can't say I can guarantee it will play any CD. It would not play some CDs sometimes for a reason I couldn't work out.
Let me know if you would be happy to take a punt

Mike, thanks but I've already got several players that are like that ;) I need something that will work every time with no aggravation.

Hi-Fi without aggravation? That's for whimps and jessies, man.

You've got to suffer for your hobby, Martin. You've got to suffer.

I have a selection of Marantz CDP's CD67, CD67SE, CD63SE & CD63MKII, and a Tricord Clock 4b that could go in any of them, PM me if you're interested in any of this.

Martin, these little Rotel CDPs are fab. Think serious ‘SPPV’, and something that’s hassle free, looks neat, and just does ‘what it says on the tin’: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IMMACULATE-ROTEL-RCD-02-CD-PLAYER-WITH-MANUAL-REMOTE-/281527579875?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiF i_CDPlayerSeparates&hash=item418c59f4e3

Rotel kit often gets overlooked, or certainly doesn’t get as much recognition as it should. Superb little player! :)

Marco.

Thanks Marco

But I think that seller is asking too much for a player that had a RRP of £250 and was probably sold in most places new for under £200.

I usually find Marantz players a bit artificially warm and rich but I think I have taken the studio sound thing a bit too far with my system and my instinct tells me a Marantz or similar sounding player will balance it out a bit.

Nice one Martin . I used a 67SE for quite a few years and was very happy with it. If it has the remote you can use it to control the volume / output of the player ( just like a set of attenuators ) . I set mine at what I thought was the 'sweet spot ' and then used the amp to control the volume after that . :)

Handy for use with older amps not designed for CD's 2.0v output

It sounds like something extra to tweak anyway :)

Yes , that's what I used it for James . IMO there was a definite ' sweet spot ' on the volume .

Martin I own a Marantz CD50SE, which I purchased new in the 80's, and it has never ever skipped and never ever not read a cd properly however scratched or damaged the cd is.. I will never part with it and will use it again if my Pioneers ever fail. Actually maybe I should put it back in the system as I've never heard it with the Rega Dac, in fact I almost forgot I had it, I have no idea where I've put it though.. :mental:

So I am quite sure you will be happy with your 67 as I think Marantz always made a good cdp ;)

Thanks Bev. But as I was saying to Darren earlier my house is like the Elephant's Graveyard in the old Tarzan films - it's where CD players go to die....

:eek::eek:

Lets hope your new 67 doesn't die, I'm sure it will be just fine... However if it does they are only £60 odd to replace

My CD50 has been through several house moves since I purchased it in the 80's and I've definitely not had to 'wrap it in cotton wool' and it always works 100%.. I think Marantz must be quite tough ;)
