Rega DAC v Beresford Caiman

How would a Rega DAC compare with a Beresford Caiman? I listen to a lot of music digitally these days and recently I have been looking to upgrade my amp and CD. Now I am thinking a better way to go initially would be to add a DAC which I can then link to my PC (which is when I usually listen to music anyway. These are the two DAC's I have had my eyes on.

Any recommendations.

The Rega is a better sounding DAC than the original Caiman, more fluidity and detail, however I suspect The Caiman II might show the Rega a clean pair of heels ;)

My recommendation is to take advantage of my free pre-Christmas delivery offer and give the Caiman MKII a try for yourself. It is not an issue of which one is better to the ears of someone else. What matters is how it sounds to you in your system. And at half the price of the Rega, the Caiman MKII will leave you with enough change to pay for the Christmas dinner afterwards ;). And should you decide to send it back after the trial period, you'll at least guaranteed to have the refund back in your account on the same day or the day after that the parcel gets back. So you'll have enough time to then try something else.

I'd only add one thing to that

A battery PSU makes the Caiman even better. Anakaka being favourite

So if it beats the Rega as is you can make it even better

Yes, a new Rega DAC-r was introduced around a month ago and is very good indeed.

A new Rega DAC is definitely out of my budget as divorce payments would not be affordable!!! I would be looking at second hand on a Rega. Excuse me for my ignorance as I am relatively new to the world of DAC's and technology but what advantage does the battery pack add to the Caiman II? Really enjoying music again and I think one reason for that is the introduction of streaming and the freedom to search out new sounds.

I'd say Take up Stans offer of a no like no buy deal.
He is a genuine guy, and makes amazing Dacs, I've had 4 of his so far, the Caiman mk 2 being the latest.

Sound wise it's brilliant, and utmost value at the same time.
