I feel a little nervous as a newcomer to this forum, but hey ho, on wards and upwards.
My name is Victor and I live in lovely and sometimes stormy Devon. In regard to musical influences, I was brought up on Rock 'n' Roll, fell in love briefly with Marc Bolan of T.Rex, was dazzled by Jimi Hendrix who lead me into Blues, was smitten by Ritchie Blackmore and fell into Prog Rock (from Deep Purple to Muse), digressed to 60's music (influence of my wife), discovered a whole world of Classical music via Wagner and thanks to internet radio I listen to other music from other countries (except for Rap and Hip Hop). Oh and a special thank you to Edith Piaf for singing that one song 'Non, je ne regrette rien'.
I used to own a lovely Naim Audio Cd based system (via Epos speakers) but alas I had to sell it with a heavy heart.
Now I have a modest Cocktail Audio X10 1TB Music Server connected to Monitor Audio Bronze BX1 speakers (little gems) in my kitchen. For a small system the sound is surprisingly musical and inviting. I feel I have a whole world of music at my fingertips via the remote thanks to Cds ripped on to the hard drive and the internet radio. However I do not know how streaming works, it appears to involve computers and laptops, it all seems rather protracted compared to the simple use of turntable, cd and reel to reel tapes. Perhaps someone on this forum can tell me otherwise?
In the near future I want to build a main HiFi system in the living room and I turn to this forum for guidance.
Many thanks
Victor :)
