The mrs got me a new laptop last friday all i have put on is office ,discburn and for the love of got I have pick up a trojan/mailware virus mcfee and avg cant find anything .
Any one know what the best prog to use as sonn as i click a web page adds just load and load

Sorry to hear this Gerald. I have advocated the use of several lines of defense here on occasions...

Can you dwnload stuff ...if not then you will need a program that can be started from a flash drive...

if you can/when you can, Malware bytes premium is one f the best and it also includes chamelon which is great. Cloud scanner Hitman pro is also superb and uses a lot of top programs...both cost but I think you can get a free trial. I use both plus several others including malwarebytes anti exploit as a background web protector. You cannot take these things too seriously. I also use avast free and Win Patrol plus. It sounds a lot but they all work together along with the inbuilt windows firewall.

hope you can get it sorted, but if not then take it to a professional.

I purchased a cheap Mac Mini about 3 years ago and have never looked back...

I made a good living programming Microsoft based machines so I know about them pretty well...but would NEVER ever have one again... sorry ;)

As a business we always used Sophos as our security package and it was very good indeed... I have no idea if Sophos has an end user version but they probably do.. I'd recommend it if they do ;)

Go into programs and find 'system tools' use 'system restore' to the earliest point available. Also try 'Spyware Expert' free software from Download.com., it's quite an old program, but seems to find and kill many nasties.

If you buy proprietary operating system software and it plays up, take it back to where it came from and ask for a refund if it cannot be fixed by the firm who sold it to you. At the moment you have paid for software that despite your best efforts doesn't work as it claims to, and you are poised to pay for fixing it with yet more money. .

Cheers guys got it back to factory now going to have to sort out more defence before loading anything on it even thinking about windows 7 back on as i have a OEM disc never had a problem with 7 ultimate on 8.1 doing my nut in.

Chris has hit on a possibility this could be a bad Windows instal and not a virus/malware issue. I bought a laptop once, that had a bad Windows instal, I took it back to PC world, they had a look and replaced it on the spot with no issues whatsoever, I was quiet impressed expecting to have to jump through hoops. Take it back to the supplier and let them check it out.

I have. It works well enough on an old laptop that had Vista on it, but doesn't seem that much quicker, considering the difference in the size of the software package.
