Gainclone any one?

I am considering a six channel amp project to allow me to go active with a three way pair of speakers.

The Gainclone, as three seperate stereo amps in small cases, or six channels in one big case, is where my current thinking lies.

Has anyone any experiences, good or bad, with Gainclone projects or tried multi channel builds using it?

Those boards would certainly be a cheap way of trying out chip amps.

I was thinking more of options that would get the right side of 50w/channel.

The LM3875/3886/4780 based boards in particular. The LM4780 is a two channel chip that can be bridged to give 100w, supply permitting.

I did a search on here but only three hits that were years old and all the links are out of date.

May try a search on diyaudio which is mentioned quite a bit in google returns.

Yes, I have made several LM3886 stereo amps, 2 LM3875 Monoblocks and a bridged LM3886 amp giving out around 100w per side. You should find a lot of posts by me on Diyaudio a good few years ago when I was into building amps (sometimes just for the sake of it:D)

Gainclones IMO sound far better than they have a right to for a chip amp, if built correctly of course. The Cambridge 340A (and SE) is a Gainclone using LM3886 chips:)
