As mentioned in another thread, I want to set up a modest system at home, need an amp, preferable integrated but no funds for anything I would want to commit to, so trying out a Tripath amp, specifically a MUSE S7 APE FLAC Lossless Player + TDA7498L Digital T-amp.
This comes with its own 19v 4A AC power supply. Having been reading this forum avidly since recently joining, and getting great advice at the same time I might add, I realise that such PSUs are nominated as "wall warts" and not much favoured for audio equipmant. Seems a Linear PSU is the way to go.
I have looked around at prices for such, and desireable as one might be, I have no budget for one, Not yet anyway.
Is there an interim step I could take, such as a high quality Laptop PSU, or something for similar sensitive equipment?
I read that often people are advised to up the voltage and/or amperage for a better sound, but have no idea what would be within tolerance but enough to make a difference.
I have looked through the DIY PSU threads, but its not something I can tackle, I know my skills and limits and it does not involve electronics.
So any help and guidance here would be much appreciated.
If it enters the equation I will be using Kef Cresta 2 speakers, so some spec on them:
Nominal impedance: 8 ohms
Amplifier requirements: 10-100W
Frequency response: 48Hz to 20kHz +/-3.0dB
Sensitivity: 90dB at 1m for 2.83V
