Up for grabs: first edition of this Beresford giantkiller, which features USB, TOSLINK and two RCA coax inputs. Variable and line outputs (so can be used as a pre-amp), plus headphone amp. A digital Swiss Army knife!

The DAC has been upgraded with the Gator board - more on that from the manufacturer:

Benefits of a low gain transistor stage
The amount of gain required to amplify the analogue output from the DAC chip to a LINE or CD level output is between 2X to 4X. Opamps can produce gains of considerably more than that. Unfortunately all that extra gain has to be drastically reduced by applying lots of feedback. For a signal that only requires a small amount of gain, the use of so much feedback has a clear audible effect on the resulting output.

Line output improvement
The Gator line output does away with all that gain and feedback. The sizeable improvements from both the fixed and variable outputs are noticeable within the first few seconds of playing music through the Gator. Speaker output is far more extended, with a more energetic and punchy bass. Treble is also less edgy and more natural. Soundstage is wider and open, with no hint of a veil.

Here's a gushing review, if you like that sort of thing (http://www.whathifi.com/beresford/caiman/review)

Also fitted with the AD826 opamp (on Mr Beresford's recommendation). Boxed, with PSU.
