Hi All,

I'm new to the forum. I'm pretty much an analog and tubes kind of guy, but I don't limit myself!

I just picked up a set of Vandersteen Treo speakers, which replaced a much-beloved set of 2CE Signatures that I had owned for 11 years. I have them paired with a set of Vandersteen 2WQ subs, using a set of M5-HP High Pass boxes.

For amplification, I have a Rogue Perseus Magnum Preamp, and a Rogue Stereo 90 Super Magnum power amplifier, running KT120 tubes.

My primary source is a VPI Scout turntable with a Benz Ace SL cartridge, paired with a PS Audio GCPH phono premp. That is about to be upgraded, however, to a new VPI Prime table with 3D printed tonearm. Can't wait! I also have a Rega Planet 2000 CD player and a Rega DAC, which I also play hi-res files through.

I'm also waiting for my Kickstarter pledge Pono Player to arrive - should be in the next couple of weeks or so. They sound amazing for such a small player as source components.

For cable, I pretty much have exclusively Kimber Kable throughout, but I'm planning on switching to solid core AQ soon. Seems to pair better with the higher resolution Treos.

I enjoy acoustic rock mostly, but also enjoy progressive, hard rock, and some older softer rock.

Looking forward to participating!

Drew

Hi Drew; Welcome to AoS, and hope you enjoy the forum. I see you already have some super kit, and like acoustic rock. I prefer acoustic folk blues myself but like rock too. If you can, pop some pics into the gallery section as many of us like pics(and your stuff would be a treat)
Hope to see you around the site, Cheers Grant.

Hello Drew. Welcome to AOS.

As Grant says you have a nice system and we'd definitely appreciate some photos in our Gallery section.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi from NZ. Analogue and Tubes: I'm sure you will fit in. How do you find the Perseus and Super 90? I have run a Cronus Magnum integrated and it was fantastic. I had it on probation for about 3 weeks and would have bought it but for the lack of inputs.

Welcome to AoS Drew,

My, that's some tasty gear you have there. :) Much of it I know of only by reputation, so we would love to see some photos of it all if you can manage that.

Enjoy the Forum

Barry

Posted up some pictures in my album!

@Andrei I like the Rogue amp and preamp quite a bit. To me they combine a good sense of tube quality, but not at the expense of PRAT. It's almost like very good solid state, but tubes are a lot of fun. Rogue is very local to where I live (about an hour away), so I've been there a few times to drop off my gear for upgrades and a repair. The owner, Mark O'Brien, a super nice guy, and he always take time to chat when I've stopped by. Its a very small shop, and they take a lot of pride in what they make.

I had been running a SimAudio integrated before the Rogues, but I needed to go with separates when I bought my first Vandersteen subwoofer. They require a hi-pass filter between the amp and preamp, so I decided to upgrade to tubes.

In general I like these smaller American companies; Rogue, Wyred4Sound, Empirical Audio, KAB USA etc. I have found my personal emails to them have always been returned with no-nonsense replies. There seems to be an ethos of simply being helpful - which in my book is a good business model because some of that will come back to you.
Anyway: nice pics and that sub certainly looks the business!
