View Full Version : Taking analogue seriously
i just heard about a chap in the UK who has ordered a new record deck and cartridge. Nothing unusual in that ..In our little world anyway. But this chap has spent around £33,000......£9000 of it on a cartridge. That must be rare by any standards.
But the really unusual bit is the chap's age. He is 86 years old. How is that for faith in the future. As for a trembling hand when using that cartridge . ........
True grit! I hope I can use my deck when I am 76, let alone 86. Although it would certainly have a cheapish cartridge.
I hear he is downgrading.
He decided he had too much money tied up in his previous turntable/ cartridge combination and wanted to spend more on hookers and drugs.
He mentioned "going out in a blaze of glory". He has the full backing of his 25 year old wife.
My hero.

Be nice to have that kind of money to throw at your system!
Come to think of it, I saw Dennis Healey yesterday at a concert by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. And he is 97 years old. Some of these guys are serious about their music.

My 93 year old Dad has started to do something similar ... buying the expensive guitars he's always wanted, rather than 'making do' with the cheap copies he's always had :guitar:
