Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler - 'Neck and Neck'

My choice this time around is an album I heard back in 1991 when auditioning some new speakers. I took my own selection to listen to, however the dealer suggested I listen to 'Neck and Neck'. I was so impressed I went down the road and bought a copy.

'Neck and Neck' is a collaborative album by American guitarist Chet Atkins and British singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on October 9, 1990 by Columbia Records.

The album demonstrates the guitar capabilities of both players and is an enjoyable listen with humour thrown in. I hope you enjoy it.

Wouldn't have thought I would like this - but I do. Two great guitarists with nothing to prove, just enjoying themselves and having a laugh and a joke at the same time. :)

Most enjoyable - 7/10 from me.

Just what I thought Barry, well summed up.

Enjoyable to listen to now and again. Quite a bit different from my everyday listening and quite a bit different for the AoS forum.

9/10 from me as I only have a couple of 10/10 LPs.

Had a listen again and will give it 7/10. Prefer a bit more of a harmonic style these days tbh, but it is very good. Just took delivery of a 180g willie nelson album(new one) "Band of Brothers" Might make a good one for next month (hint, hint):eyebrows:

Had the album since first release great playing by both the sadly missed Chet Atkins and in my mind the underrated Mark Knopfler, not a 10/10 but at least a 8/10
