[FS] Spendor BC1 Powered - ex-BBC Pebble Mill

Selling my Spendor BC1 Powered speakers. These are ex-BBC Pebble Mill, hence the presence of the large bracket on one of them (easily removed).

Serial numbers are 1122 and 1125. Both fitted with Spendor M25 amplifiers, both of which are working splendidly. XLR in, independent volume control. One of the speakers has been modified to allow passive use as well as active. Would be very easy to do the same to the other.

All drive units working as they should be, no rubbing etc. 1982 date code on the bass drivers (black marks around edge of bass driver surround on 1117 are just adhesive as originally applied, or perhaps re-applied by BBC engineers)

Cabinets are both sound but need the attention of somebody with a sander! Grilles intact but one needs recovering.

Collection only from just outside of Bedford please. Demo a pleasure, will drive with my Tascam CD-01U Pro. Makes lovely sounds. £225 seems a fair price...

They will indeed, only a surfeit of boxes forces their sale. One could even use them as the world's best PC speakers. You'll need a big table though ;-)

Just to correct please. these are NOT active speakers, as the passive crossover is still there! They're POWERED speakers.

The larger lined ports indicate that these are late production and the bass units will have the later surround as well as higher power handling, which all but cured the issues of the early to mid 70's models when the white surrounds had to be changed. The Yahoo Spendor group is a mine of info on these and other Spendors.

These Spendors are definitely appealing. If I had the room I'd buy them. A bit of what looks to be an easy tidy up would produce a pair of very nice, good sounding and unusual Classics.
