Impedance Query.

Bought a new telly last week, and the wife decided that she wanted it on its supplied stand, and not on the wall as previously, so basically the MS Radius centre speaker didn't sit correctly in front of it, and is now almost hidden behind the stand, with the majority of the drivers almost hidden by the set, and the one way round the problem that I can see is to get another pair of the tiny Radius speakers that I already have for front left and right duties, these sitting nicely to the left and right of the middle of the stand.

So, eventually I get to the question, is it plausible to use 2 speakers wired together to replace the one centre unit?

The amp seems to quote 6 ohms for each channel, and I believe the MA's are 8.

Wired in parallel you could get a low impedance of between 3 and 4 ohms (most speakers that are rated 8 Ohms are closer to 6 to 7 Ohms impedance) so yes, that could be a problem. Wired in series will give you closer to a 12 to 16 Ohm load and is the safer way to do it although it's not the most efficient transfer of power, it is a safer option. You wire positive input to the first speaker's positive terminal, take the negative terminal of that speaker and wire it to the positive of the next speaker, and connect the negative return to that speaker's negative terminal. Why not use one 8 Ohm speaker as a centre channel? That would be the better bet if it is an 8 Ohm speaker, the amp will be driving into a more suitable load than the other two options.

They physically need to be two speakers, so that They can be placed either side of the stand, and not absolutely centrally any more, as it just doesn't fit.

Just got home from an amazing, busy soul and Motown night, and necked a bottle of Lidl's finest £3-99 Grenache Rose wine, and had a brilliant thought, as you do when you quaff a bottle in Less than 10 minutes!

Why don't I pull out 1 of my Celestion F1 speakers out from under the bed, turn it upside down so the tweeter is not hidden, and use that as a centre speaker?

Better still adjust the settings and dial out the centre speaker altogether. Then sell it and use the proceeds to buy more cheap plonk. Centre speakers suck and there is no need for them.

Think I've solved the issue.

It seems, according to the review snot Hifi did on the Onkyo receiver, that having the Audyssey EQ on, had an adverse effect on the dialogue coming from the Center speaker.
I've turned it off and it is a lot better, and now, despite the speaker still being almost hidden, it is far easier to hear what's going on.
