Good evening & thanks for letting me join your forum/club ! My name's Steve, originally from Leeds but now living & working in East Yorkshire. I enjoy most genres of music but if pressurised I would probably state Rock & Metal ! My system is "work in progress" at the moment as my wife has just bought me a Yamaha AS500 & I'm quite niaive on compatability etc. Just wondered on a cd player & speakers to complete my system. Locally, we only have a Richer Sounds store. That's really why I applied to join your forum/club :)

Don't dismiss Richer Sounds, they do actually sell some decent bits.

I had quite an interesting experience regarding the Yamaha AS500. My dealer loaned it to me for two weeks while I waiting to take delivery of an Anthem 225 amplifier (more expensive). Actually I preferred the Yamaha! It's a little cracker. It had quite a lot of grunt, and ultimately I preferred it over the Anthem. Another reason I liked the Yamaha was because of its slightly retro looks. I was running Paradigm Studio 60 speakers at the time and that seemed a decent enough match. Buying speakers is a bit tricky because they are more idiosyncratic and they need to work with the Amp. If you can go to the shop where the amp was purchased you may be able to listen to some speakers being run by that amp - not perfect but better than buying blind. The Audiolab 8200CD has won accolades in the Hi-Fi press, so you should check that out.

Think I'll be really happy with the Amp - great reviews & price for my wife :) Looking at Mission / Monitor Audio / Tannoy speakers with this amp. Cheers for the heads up on the gear espec Audiolab & I've never heard of Triangle - so exciting times ahead. Thanks again
