I have a pair of original IMF Compact Speakers for sale. The bass/mid. drivers require re-foaming, but the other drivers are OK.
The cabinets are in excellent condition, as are the grilles. I also have the original box and leaflet.

Two Rogers Studio 3 baffles, with the original bass/mid. drivers and a pair of brand new SEAS 19 TFF tweeters. Also the crossovers, which have surface mounted components. One works perfectly, the other has a dry joint I suspect.

Hi Martyn. I'm curious to know, how did you end up with just the baffles from the Rogers speakers?

I decided to keep the cabinets for another project.

I will accept £45 for the IMF speakers.
The cabinets must be worth that...

Hi Martyn,

Good Lord I never thought I would see another pair of the original IMF Compacts again. My dad, bless him, took me to London and after auditioning several speakers I chose the IMF Compacts and he bought them for me on my 18th birthday. They cost £50/pair in their day and were my first speakers for my hifi system and so I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to them....errrr that dates me! I sold them to a friend who I believe still has them.

They were really great sounding speakers and well worth refurbishing. Good luck with the sale!

cheers

Chris

Thanks, Chris.
I have some bids on the eBay auction. Someone contacted me and told me a similar story to yours. IMFs at 18 years old...

I have some interest in the Rogers baffles, but no bids as yet. I have also got a brand new pair of grilles to fit the baffles.

Martyn.

These are still available. The overseas highest bidder didn't communicate, but I have decided to leave using eBay again for a while...

Chris, I'm so sorry, I didn't 'clock' who you are  You of all people here should know vintage IMF's and since you owned some of the 'Pro Monitor III's' as I recall (lucky devil) are very well qualified to speak on them as we share similar Saturday-Boy dealer ancestry :)

Once they've been restored, I wonder how they'd compare to what you're using now - in the mids at least?

How tiny were BC1's, LS3/6's and their relatives back then. My BC2's look huge in our sitting room now and I shudder to think how large the IMF Domestic/Pro/Ref Standard models would appear to be today. I'd love a pair of RSPM IV's, knowing what I do now... Surviving ones go for over a grand sadly now, despite crumbling foam line-liners and drifting caps :(

David,

Yes the pro Monitor IIIs were a little too much for my small 10X10Ft bedroom but I was amazed at how well the Amcron D60 drove them with real control.

Anyway the midrange of the IMF Compacts I remember as been particularly fine for their price and would make an interesting comparison with my Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a clones once re-furbished.

cheers

Chris
