Have just purchased one of these lovely Pashley bikes... will be picking it up on Monday...can't wait. I've always wanted a Pashley as they are still made in the UK... it's much more comfortable than my present mountain bike...;)

Al if I could get my leg over a Hayabusa I'd have one in a flash... but my leggies are far too short for one... damn it. !!

If you have a look of the Margaret Rutherfords about you, you can imagine yourself as Miss Marple when you're out on it.

Yes I think they are very stylish

I rode one yesterday for a test and they are so comfortable and not as slow as everyone seems to make out.. the 5 speed Sturmey Archer gears work really well..

That’s a ‘Princess’ isn’t it, Bev? My wife has one just like it :)

Stephen I don't look like either to be honest but the Pashley is a real classic bike... I think they are a bargain as they are still handmade in the UK... I got a VERY good deal on one...which I won't let Pashley know as they don't like discounted bikes being sold... :bike:

Yes Marco it's the Princess Sovereign which comes with dynamo lighting at the front, an LED rear light, basket, a rear lock and 5 speed gears and a lovely Brooks leather saddle.... I can't wait to get it !!

How does your wife get on with her's ?

Loves it! She likes having the basket at the front to put stuff in, and the bell makes quite a din, when she gets folk to shift out of her way! :eyebrows:

I remember when she first got it, and cycled to work (when she worked locally) and showed it to one of her workmates and said ‘Look, it’s even got my name on it!’, to which he replied: ‘Where?’, thinking it had ‘Dolores’ written somewhere, which is my wife’s name. Then she pointed and said: ‘There, look, where it says Princess!!’ :D

He just laughed…

Nice one... how long did it take to 'break-in' the Brooks saddle ?

Well my early Christmas pressie turned out not too well...

The Pashley is just too heavy and too much of a work-out to ride so I took her back to the dealer for a refund... I'll keep my Kona mountain bike which is a much more usable bike.. I've had normal road tyres fitted to the Kona and she now flies...

I loved the Pashley for it's style, quality, great finish and that she was Made In UK.. but they are just not practical these days.. too heavy and too slow for my liking

I will shortly be adding a Brooks leather saddle to the Kona so she is a bit more comfortable... :bike:

Comfort and style over speed for me...............:)

I totally agree Grant however the Pashley was just not a nice thing to ride, it felt awkward and far too slow

My Kona will be more comfortable with a nice Brooks saddle and MUCH faster than the Pashley... I wish I could have kept the Pashley but just too heavy and too slow.. it was such a massive work-out compared to the Kona... and I just couldn't face selling my beloved Kona either.. ;)
