Hello from a surprisingly sunny Isle of Wight, UK

Quick intro - Peter - getting too near 60 but still trying to keep mindset younger

Really have two systems-
one in lounge used mainly by wife for watching tv but I like to get in there to watch movies and music blu rays and dvds. Panasonic TV, Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blu-ray player, Denon AVR-X2000 Integrated AV Receiver, Tannoy Mercury Front, side and rear for surround sound speakers, Yamaha sub woofer.

Front room stereo system Musical Fidelity M6i Amplifier, Dali Zensor 5 speakers, Marantz cd 63 Mk 2 KI Signature - this has got to go next - (any ideas for a replacement? very limited budget due to recent purchase of amp)

Listen to all sorts of music - all on cd - lots of rock such as Led Zep, Deep Purple Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Terrorvision, Wildhearts, Steeleye Span, Status quo, Stacie Collins, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Primal Scream, Rod Stewart & The Faces, Fairport Convention,ZZ Top, Warrior Soul, Blackmores Knight - through to Bhudda Bar discs if youve heard of them -/ Claude Challe, some disco including recent efforts like Gangnam Style - bit sad I know. Will listen to anything with open mind - if I like it, I like it. Cant get on with Jazz though and only listen to very little Classical.

All LP's confined to loft , along with Moth record deck- all now transferred to cd as wife kept moaning about space LPs took up on the floor

Have you replaced all your LPs with CDs, or did you burn CDs from your records?

What's all this "approaching 60" nonsense. I'm older than that and still making a nuisance of myself! :)

So you're using CD only at the moment? (I must admit, I use mine a lot) The Marantz is not a bad unit, why are you changing it?

Tell us your budget for another player, so we can make suggestions.

Hello and Welcome Peter. A good choice in music you have, and will keep you young in mind listening to that lot on a regular basis. If you can, pop some pictures of your system into the Gallery section. We love pics here.
Start a thread in digital asking for advice on a cd player too. Lots knowledge here(me excluded)

Always open to a bit of persuasion on Jazz/ classical front so do give it a go - you never know(but there again, I do support Chelsea FC on the football front, so probably beyond help!!:mental:)
I have replaced a few LPs with CDs, but mainly burnt the cd from the LP - wasnt sure of legality of it, but only done for my own use so guess i'm ok (some came out better than others in terms of quality but did only buy cheap deck with usb connection from Maplin to do the job) Might try again and store on pc, as now have usb connection to the amp.

Seems consensus is to replace speakers before cd player so may have to now reconsider next step

Wife thinks i'm a nuisance listening to my music as do neighbours (seriously, I do consider them - thinking of moving to Devon next year :lol: )
Several people have suggested I change speakers before Marantz cd player, so probably now considering this - bit awkward though as only bought a few months ago before I decided to splash out on MF amp :doh:
If I can sort out good trade in/ sale of speakers, I think will go down this route then maybe get a MF cd player or such next year. So guess I'm now looking at speakers to go with the amp :scratch:

- many years ago, I played Amateur football and was a goalkeeper - the manager called me Pete the Cat ( after Peter Bonnetti at Chelsea) but as the years went on my weight went on and he changed it to Pete the Fat Cat - charming:rolleyes:
Good to meet you- I do actually like BRMC so very apt. I also started playing the drums a couple of years ago so trying to carry on rock n roll name
