Hi all, been a looooong time since I was a member of a Forum...

I chanced across this fair place whilst geeking out about wanting new decks. I've always been an audio / music lover and have been full circle growing up with vinyl and cassettes through digital and now well and truly back to vinyl. I simply don't want to have to turn a computer on to listen to my tunes. I've been djing for about 15 years, specialising in playing to empty dancefloors and having a party for one into headphones most nights. I used to be a professional animator and got into mucking about with sound design through that.

Still got a half decent home studio setup with Mackie h.264 monitors, pdx-2000s, Ortofon carts, Rane ttm56, vestax pmc-006D, and bunch of fairly low end hifi kit spread around the house

So, hey - scuffing my feet on the welcome mat - hello :D

e2a - oh yeah, from sunny Brizzle

e2a, will need to work out how to display images inline...!

music I'm fond of... *draws breath* Funk, Soul, Jazz, Blues, Motown, Electronica, Hip Hop, Breaks, DnB, Reggae, Dub, Downbeat, Bass, House, Soundtrack, Classical, Folk, 60's, Rock... depends what mood takes me. Radio 6 pretty much covers it all ;) My worst nightmare is being trapped on a desert island with One Direction...

Picture expanded for your benefit. I like the mixer and the sign. I have a few signs in my studio :)

Hi Dave. Welcome from me too.

Are you planning any changes with your Hi-Fi? We'd like to hear about them if you do.

Plenty of good advice available from our members, many of whom have amazing sounding systems.

Enjoy AOS,
Geoff.

Evening ;) - yeah, I'm looking to upgrade my turntables and headphones to something that sounds better but still allows me to ham-fistedly mix and scratch my tunes to my hearts content. Time, money and the ever present threat of small children messing with my kit are the sticking points!

Looking forward to some proper audio nerdery...

e2a - apologies, and a big hello to all! :D

Knowing members here, I'd say you will immediately be pointed towards the Technics SL-1200/1210 turntables. They have a huge following on AOS and have their own sub-forum: http://theartofsound.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?46-The-Techiepedia
