View Full Version : Help identifying arm and cartridge

I would be grateful if someone could help me identify the arm and cartridge on this Revolver deck for a friend who is selling it. The cartridge is branded Revolver but I'm thinking it was probably manufactured by an OEM and re-badged. Also what would be a fair asking price for the deck? Thanks in advance and apologies for the shitty pics of the cartridge.

actually I think its an A&R arm now that I think of it ...

Probably 120 £ or there abouts at a guess.

The arm is a Jelco, probably a 250S, the S appellation signifying Straight. I run a Jelco 750 and I have heard the 250 - it is a pretty decent arm.

There is no A&R arm there's AR {Acoustic Research} arm.. As Jim says It looks like the Jelco dirived Revolver arm

I think that the tonearm is a scaled down version of the Sumiko MMT (which later became the Jelco 250 ST); I believe the cartridge is a re-branded Audio Technica CN 5625. It was sold as a package in North America in the early 90's to specifically compete with the similarly priced Rega Planar 3 and the Duals of the time.
A price around the 80-100 quid mark would sound fair to me.

Both arm and cartridge were a standard fitment on the Revolver deck. As mentioned, the arm is an OEM version of what is now the Jelco SA-250ST and the cartridge is a re-badged AT95E.
