Very unusual, but we had no little visitors at all. The French are normally out and about in packs of twenty or so with an accompanying adult.
What are we going to do with all the sweeties?

None that I know of. (I was listening to loud music and may not have heard the doorbell ring).

About 10 knocks/rings, but we did have a pumpkin out so we were asking for it. All but one visit was by under 10's I think. They were lovely - they'd all made the effort and were generally encouraged to say "Thank You" by their minders, which they did. I don't imagine one night's excess sugar will have destroyed too many teeth, and quite a few of them were clearly still on their first set anyway.

I had one lot. I just happened to go out the door as they were heading towards my gate. They took a look at me and scarpered.
Did you forget you were wearing your adult baby-gro and booties? :eyebrows:
Told you before not to go out like that!
Marco.

Most don’t make it past our electrified fence.
Marco.
One. The first in many, many years as for a while there were no children in the immediate neighbourhood at all.
Sadly they failed to observe the protocol of making an appointment by telephone beforehand so I didn't answer the door...
Big fat zero for the second year! Scaredy cats!! Dont make em like they should:eyebrows:

It could’ve been Lindsay Lohan looking for some directions to a gimp party!
Marco.
No. Lindsay knows to call me first before knocking on.

Yeah. Sorry Marco. I know I promised not to do it again! But I had to wear it 'cos I couldn't find my snakeskin leotard. :D
No wonder you gave the fuckers a fright!
Marco.
About 10/12 knocks on the door.
mostly groups of 2 or 3 kids a time. Mainly under 10. Some very young ones with their parents in tow, but standing out on the roadway.
Im sure some came back twice with different masks on, thinking I wouldnt recognise their clothes or even their voices . LOL.
My daughter and her chum went around too (Age 12 and 13) and collected a bag full of goodies. This may well be her last time. I think she felt old and possibly a little uncool.
Almost all the kids had made an effort and had scary clothes on/ face painted etc. A lovely vibe.
I thought it was great fun.

Our next door neighbour goes mad for it. I think that's why she had kids! We weren't getting any, so I told her my wife had bought some sweets. After a while we had to ask her to stop sending them over as we ran out of sweets!
I say "we", but I'm never going to be answering the door!

Weve had none here, which really surprised me! The stink bomb I strategically placed under the door mat to give the little darlings a nice surprise didn't go down at all well with my postman this morning though...:eyebrows:
In this day and age seems a little risky, only needs some nut job to lace the sweets with something

I thought you were going down the pub, Geoff?
I've got some Guinness in. I'd give you a can but I've only got six.

We(well me and the dog) had none, it may be the way he arrives at the back of the door when the bell rings?

He He. Mine does an impressive 'Hound of the Baskervilles' impression too when there's a caller at the door. The poor old postman rings the bell then ducks back out of the gate and closes it until I open the door.

We had absolutely none - one of the benefits of living in a private estate in the middle of nowhere, up a dark country lane with very few houses nearby! Although, having said that, there was an 'unwritten rule' in the village in which we used to live that if you were happy for trick or treaters to call, you put a pumpkin lantern or two outside your door. No pumpkin and they didn't knock - this worked very well.
As to Guinness...
I tried it once and thought it was evil stuff...... :D
Did you make the mistake of trying it in England? If so, bad move - it's completely different in Ireland and is wonderful over there!

They stopped brewing it in London at least a decade ago so any Guinness you buy here was brewed in Dublin - with the exception of the Foreign Extra of course.

Well not been to Ireland in decades but last time I was there I was on the Murphs. Guinness is for the tourists ;)

Murphys is too sweet for me. A nice cold, properly bitter Guinness however, is perfection in a glass, much too good for mere tourists.

Too true, but it varies in Ireland as well and, ironically, the worst Irish pint of Guinness I've had for years was at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin last time I was there! We'll be in Ireland with the in-laws over Christmas so I shall be revisiting the best places for it in Athlone which, as a result of extensive research, I can confirm are the Radisson Blu Hotel and, of course, Sean's Bar.
I've not had a bad pint of Guinness in England for a long. long time now.
I know what you mean about Murphy's being too sweet, I drank it for many years but have now gone back to Guinness.
If you go out to Nigeria or to the former colonies in the Caribbean they brew their own Guinness under licence out there; although it is really more of an old style porter. It's called Foreign Extra and it is is as strong as Carlsberg Special Brew. That stuff puts hairs on your chest. You can buy it here now in some supermarkets.

We have the inevitable English bar in our village. He serves a reasonable Guinness. Its that or cans but even they are better than no Guinness at all.
I drink red wine every day but its Guinness for a treat.
