The effort to rationalise continues...
Up next is my trusty harman kardon PM655 Vxi Integrated. Do it all beast that was the last HK that really delivered the signature HK sound, IMHO [big, bold, detailed, endlessly dynamic but in no way brassy]. Completely demolishes something like a Cyrus Two with PSXR.
TBH, it sounds the way many of us, I believe, would secretly like Brit amps to sound, if that's not too controversial :p
This was, I think, one down from the very top of the range... 2 x 90w, perfect for efficient/inefficient speakers alike and loaded with every facility you could conceivably want. Including a terrific MM/MC phono stage with capacitance trim. I won't go through every facility... just click on the pix for a look.
Replaced all the caps (bar reservoirs) on the main PCB, power supply and phono stage earlier this year. Should give excellent service for years to come. Nichicon Fine Tune, Muse, Toshiba TK, Philips BC caps used... no rubbish. Only mod is that the balance selector has been bypassed (switch has been turned upside down but left in place). Sounds much the better for it. Service manual will be supplied to the buyer.
Physically in really nice condition overall, with just a tiny bit of wear on the top left of the fascia as a demerit. Bit of apparent smearing on fascia is just where I inexpertly wiped it and didn't let it dry :rolleyes:. All selectors and controls working as they should.
Recall seeing an unserviced version of the model below this go for £120 earlier this year. So will price this one for £130... not much for an amp of this talent. Collection from just outside Bedford is much preferred as it weighs over 10kg. Needless to say, demo will be a pleasure...
