Any opinions onMonitor Audio Bronze BX2 speakers these speaker, currently got a set of q15 with a blown tweeter its gonna cost me just under £100 to get these repaired
so repair or will i better a much better sounding speaker with the bx2's

I personally don't like them, harsh, forward, unmusical and very hifi as a brand. However if your hifi is overly warm and you want a more lively forward sound have a listen first.

I had a pair of Monitor Audio Gold GR10s, and they were by far the least pleasant speakers I have ever owned. No bottom end and screechy top end. Pretty awful really.

I disagree entirely. If your preference is of the wooly/warm vintage sort then MA's will sound awful to you, period. They are some of my favourite "modern" speakers & the bronze range offer good value for money IMO.

FWIW I use BR2's on a Denon mini in the kitchen, R852's in the main system & have used S1's, S5's & GS10's in the past. I also kitted out a local bar/restaurant owned by a mate, we used a pair of BR1's in each room... Not only was he over the moon with the improvement over the previous Bose speakers but positive comments are made on a daily basis from customers on "how good it sounds."

They are not as bad as some folk make out. Matched well they ain't to bad. But there are plenty of speakers in that price range that offer a far nicer sound. Lists to as many speakers as you can.....who knows you may love them.

RX1's are nice speakers, good value with real wood veneer. As already stated, you can't say that about BX2's which are finished in a cheap plastic wrap and don't match up to other speakers in the price point. For similar money try Dali.

Dali Zensor 1's are excellent sounding speakers and Richer Sounds are currently selling them for just shy of 200 quid. If the price of the Dali's is north of your budget consider a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wharfedale-Diamond-Speakers-Pair-Black/dp/B002WJAQY2/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1414688644&sr=1-3&keywords=wharfedale+diamond+220) which are also decent sounding speakers. A seller on Amazon.co.uk is currently selling these for just a ton a pair, both models look very smart.

My father used to own Monitor Audio GR20. Great floorstanders with a fast, dynamic and transparent sound. Certainly no shrieking violet for sure!!!

Thanks for those two speaker recomendations but to due to where the speakers are placed they have to be front ported speakers
