Denon DCD 835 Left Channel Louder then Right?

Hi Guys,

Had this problem for the last week i thought it was the flu i had but unfortunately no:doh: It seems to be quite noticeable but seems to level out a 1/12 or 2 on the amplifiers which i thought it was then i tried 2 amps and it was the same the left channel was considerably louder could be the listening position but doubtful as never had trouble before all is equal sounding and positioned correctly i think. Question is why would this happen i have never heard of CD players losing output in 1 channel does the laser need a clean i did used to leave it on daily could that have something to do with it.

Could be the interconnects? Or if not a dodgy phono socket. I'd look there first. I've had the same thing and it turned out to be an interconnect making a less than full connection.

Hi Martin,

Yes could be as one is less tight then the other :scratch: but used the same interconnect on a different amp and all was channels were equal :scratch:. Though i also used a din interconnect first and then a standard interconnect with Din , RCA adapter and was slightly down again seems strange as even my sister noticed a difference and we were all hearing then same left was louder not just my imagination i not something you could live with though i'm using different speakers for both tests and still the same its not really a problem just bugging me as just one of then things that nig.

It would bug me too. Check the phono outputs on the cd player.

Checked and whatever interconnect i use it seems to be looser on the right output :scratch:. Looks like its not making and equal connection looks like ive solved my own problem :lol:.

My Cambridge Audio 840C lost a channel due to a DAC chip failure. First symptom was a gradual loss of output level, and then nothing...

If it isn't anything terminal like needing a new RCA, then it might be worth doing. Otherwise off to the skip with it :)

Hi Alex

There is a difference with any amplifier i use and each time with a different interconnect so its not just me. Its a real shame thought its a great player and in good working condition just strange but things happen.

That's odd. simplest problem would be an intermittent contact with the RCA outputs. I'd be inclined to replace the existing sockets and see. I presume they are the board-mounted type?
