Is that better or worse than a rb250? Is that deck on a par with a rega planar 2?

The arm is probably equal in performance to the Linn Basic LVV for instance, but may not be as good as the RB250, depending on cartridge choice. The RB200 suffers rotted bias mechanism belts which are a bit tricky to replace (if you can find them) unless you're handy. I've done them, but it's not a really a novice job.

Personally I'd favour an RB250 or RB300, but I'd not use a Rega arm at all myself to be honest.

I'd sooner own the TD160 Super than the RP2 anyday.

Yes, I've got a soft spot for Thorens TTs. TD150 is my favourite, sounds as good as the TD125 without all the electro wizardry (less to go wrong).

Mine was a good performer with the SMEE THREE as long as one sat perfectly still, my gaff has very bounce suspended floors you see. Even sitting it on a wall mounted Target TT shelf didn't solve the problem entirely. Definitely the prettiest deck I've owned by a country mile.

It was manufactured to Rega's specification and supplied only to Rega in that particular form.

Unfortunately Stefan I no longer own the Thorens nor Goldring 900IGC, it is a rare and exquisite cartridge which was a perfect match for the Series III. It was such a lovely sounding combination I also fitted the combo to the Thorens successor.

Thank you for letting me know. I didn't expect any luck. Just joining the forum due to a search regarding Heybrook TT2 and finding this. Read somewhere a post from somebody that had two replacement styli (D140IGC). Can't remember who or where, but I sure would like to have one of those...:whistle:
