This tonearm, which I believe to be a Hadcock 228, came with my Michell turntable. I've just swapped it for an SME despite the fact that I was advised that this one will sound better.
I'm always moving my turntable (don't ask!) so the SME is easier to keep set up correctly.

These arms seem to be very well regarded and it certainly sounded great with my old Shure M91ED on it. They are obviously a very low mass design and presumably not intended for heavy cartridges.

When I got this, the internal wiring had been cut and soldered direct to an RCA lead without even any tape round it just below the arm support column! I removed this and put a proper joint in using an old connection plate from a Dual which you can see pictured. This does the job and is electrically sound but it's not pretty and clearly the whole thing would benefit from a full re-wire (although I should make it clear that it sounds great just as it is).
It's also quite easy to pull the internal wires off as it is so needs handling with care. I screwed the connection plate to the plinth underneath and clamped the cables either side to protect them.
At the other end, I remade the connections to the cartridge tags as they were a bit flaky.

This version is wired straight through. Some have a plug / socket arrangement between the arm and the base.

The original bias weight is missing so I have used a couple of washers on some thin fishing line (carefully weighed!) instead which you are welcome to.

Other than that, it's in pretty good condition other than needing a bit of a clean! There are no bends or damage to the tube. The headshell is in good condition. The arm lift is included and works well.
It will also be supplied with the pictured SME adaptor plate.

I would prefer collection from Bicester as it's pretty delicate and I can't help feeling that the damping goo in the well would end up everywhere if it was posted.

Pricewise, I would love to get £130 for it but happy to discuss if you think that's way out.

Lovely. It will actually work with lower compliance cartridges with the correct amount of fluid damping. Nice arm and a bargain!

Great decks those 'Focus One'.. I would never part with mine after 30 years of owning it. Had loads of turntables in my time but always come back to this..

Maybe the best arm ive had on it was the original low mass Mission '774' but just use an SME '3009, S2 Imp' these days..

Somebody has a fine arm, at what I assume was a bargain price. Nice! :)
