Not for me - but I'll definitely be going as a visitor :).

I nearly was going to exhibit again, but no, I need to just visit this year as a punter:-)

+1:)
Actually, I know I don't want to :). No boxes, and they weigh a ton (well, very heavy), would have to take the stands and the crossovers and the cables and the power amp for the bass drivers; that means I would probably have to take all my amplification too! None of it vaguely fits in my car (only has 2 seats) so that would be another issue. Then I get to spend the day listening to my own speakers but not seeing the rest of the show :(. Anyway, I'm not 'in' with the relevant WAM members, so it's all a bit academic.
Why not take your MBL's Jerry - I would blooming LOVE to hear them and they would be super, super unusual (any MBL's are very rare in the UK, as you know)?

I didn't realise you had to be 'in', I didn't think I was and I've done every show to date!

Now that would be something:-)
Hi Rob,
It’s a pity you’re not exhibiting this year, as I could’ve brought down my Techy, and you could’ve compared it to your lightly-modified one, thus allowing others to do the same. I suspect that would’ve been of interest to a few folks.
If you change your mind, let me know, and I’ll go halfers with you on the room costs :)
Marco.
I didn't realise you had to be 'in',..
Well in this case, my use of 'not in' is another way of saying ' quite out'; but no, you don't have to be 'in' as such to exhibit.

Yes, I would certainly find that interesting, as I'm sure many others would .

Fear not, Yamaha fans - if I'm lucky enough to be allocated a room, it will contain plenty of Japcrap for you all to drool over! :D

Thanks for the thought Marco, it's a good idea. I have been struggling to find anything I can 'offer' this year, I intensely dislike showing the same system every year which is why it's always been different.
I'll see how the numbers go;)
No worries, Rob. I could also bring my Croft preamp/phonostage and Paul Hynes MC head amp (in fact I think it’d be a necessary part of the package), so all you’d have to supply is a power amp and speakers.
Anyway, let me know what you think :)
Also, if anyone exhibiting this year would like to try my Sony DAC in their system (perhaps as part of a DAC comparison test), let me know, as I’d like to put it up against some quality modern DACs and see how it fairs.
The days of me bringing down a full system are over, but I don’t mind mixing some of my kit with other people’s systems and seeing what happens!

I'd love to, actually. Curiously, you aren't the 1st person to suggest it. :)
But I don't have the original boxes - and the bits&bobs at the top of the speaker (aka the radialstrahler mid and hi freq units) are horribly exposed and liable to damage.
If Scotty could just beam them over then I wouldn't hesitate.
You are welcome to come visit them in Deepest Gloucestershire!
As it is, at the coming show I'm sharing a dem room with Matt / "Fatmarley".
He came round to my gaff a few weeks ago, wanting an opinion on his DIY speakers.
DIY speakers?? --- errr ---  you have to be kidding?
But, OK, I said bring 'em over and if you want my honest opinion I'll let you have it - heh heh. :eyebrows:
Well, over they came, and I was gobsmacked at how good they sounded.
It didn't take long for us to agree to share a dem room at the next Scalford, with me helping out as Matt was a bit uncertain about doing it all himself as he is a Scalford Virgin.
Come along and visit us, y'all.
I certainly will :). The best show in the UK I reckon, not to be missed if you are 'into' your audio (which pretty much describes everyone who posts on an audio forum).
Well worth making the effort to attend. It's a really good - and unique -event.

I hope to be selected for the show , my name is on the list :D

Agreed - leaves places like Whittlebury in the dust, if listening to ‘real world’ systems is your bag, rather than fantasy-land badge-fi.
(which pretty much describes everyone who posts on an audio forum).
Lol - you’re joking, aren’t you? :eyebrows:
Maybe on here that applies, but most of the others are overrun by trolls, cynics, DBX obsessives and measurists!
Marco.

But they all go to Scalford, too.
Well maybe not the trolls...
Yeah, they’re usually the ones with the worst sounding systems! :D
;)

Personally I like the unusual and extreme so 'fantasy-land badge-fi' (as you put it) is fine with me; in fact the disappointing aspect of Whittlebury this year was that there wasn't more of that kind of gear. Luckily the Wam show has more than its share of extreme and eccentric systems - so I'm happy :).

:) - I must admit, I was thinking something similar when I wrote my uncharacteristically upbeat comment.

Thanks for the kind words Jerry.
I'm so pessimistic that I still think in the back of my mind that you're just being kind about my speakers. It will be interesting to see what the guys at Scalford think of them.
Those MBLs are amazing speakers and if Jerry invites you, you should go and have a listen (Just make sure you take a torch if you go at night) I'll look forward to making something that beats them in my next design :ner:
I've finally put in for exhibiting this year, no idea how selection goes but remain optimistic. I'll have Harbeth P3ESRs, Croft 25R/7 and Quad CDP2. Might bring the Croft modded Leak 20 monos I bought earlier this year. Anyway, if I get in, don't be a stranger ;-).
Whilst I will never return to it, it is a good show. You can't help but feel touched by people who are mad enough to take their entire systems there.

If anyone is short of a turntable I would be happy to provide a modified PT, and a phono stage if necessary ...

I (we) exhibited 3 years ago. Thought about being an exhibitionist again this year but was unsure.
My mind was made up for me by not being aware of the spreadsheet until after it was full. So I'll be just a voyeur this time.
I've been to 'em all and can almost find my way around now.
Just looked at the spreadsheet - a mixed bag but some interesting stuff.

Hi Marco, sorry I missed your post. It very much looks like I'm not 'doing it' this year unless called upon to fill in for drop outs:-). Perhaps next year!
I shall be walking the corridors (getting lost) as a punter this time it seems.
No worries, matey - you deserve a break this time!
Could you do me a favour and put the word out on the Wam that if anyone’s interested in using my T/T in their system, or as part of any T/T comparisons, to contact me here via PM?
Let them know that I’d be willing to share the costs of their room and arrive early to help lug anything up the stairs! :)
Cheers, dude
Marco.
P.S That request also applies to all joint AoS and Wigwam members (or anyone else reading who posts on Wigwam), in case Rob doesn’t see the above message.

We shall look forward to seeing you again this year Marco...
Some ridiculously large analogue tape machines on show this year.
Look forward to having a listen, Stewart. Your system last year was arguably the best of the show!
You don’t fancy hosting my Techy as part of your all-analogue set-up, do you? I don’t mind bringing all the necessary ‘turntably bits’… Could be fun showing the digital fanboys how it’s done! ;)
Marco.
What day and date is it BTW. I can't seem to find that most obvious info.
Is anyone going from my area for the day. Tyldesley Manchester. I have not been for a few years and would share fuel costs if I can get a ride.
Hi David,
It’s Saturday 29th March, mate. I could pick you up if you like
Marco.
I think I might be out of your way since I am north of you. I have a car but not so good at navigating and driving at the same time and last time I used a sat nav I nearly crashed so got rid of the darn thing!! I hate the things, they are so distracting and usually send me stupid routes ;)
Lol - nah, I’ll pick you up, no worries (it’s only Manchester way), or we could meet somewhere en-route. I know my way to Scalford, so we won’t need a Sat Nav :)
PM me and we’ll discuss the details
Marco.
