Hello everyone! I found this site while researching mods for my Technics SL-1200MK2. I love many, many types of music and am utterly fascinated about the electronic playback of the same. Not strictly an equipment junkie because I like actually listening to music on my audio systems and at times while enjoying the music, I can't help thinking "Hmm, it sounds good now, but this or that can be modded/tweaked so it will sound even better" or I sure would like to switch out this_____ for a ____ so the system would be even better.
I recently rebuilt a pair of Infinity speakers by using parts from different models so the result sounds and performs like a higher level model. I built a flexi rack for my components that is wider than tall. The method to this madness was so as to not have a tall rack of components between the speakers that would mess with the sound staging and imaging from the speakers. Right after that I began the mods on my "Techie"(with a bit of help found here ;) ). Along the way there are other projects made up of bits & scraps laying around that "normal" folks would have tossed into the rubbish.
I'm glad I found this site. It seems like a nice, friendly, helpful sort of place. There seems to be a wealth of knowledge and information here. Maybe from time to time I can contribute my two-cents. Along the way I'll have to partake of my own advice of "Shut up, sit down and listen" :D
