I thought I'd just say "ello" and hopefully you folks on here will be able to assist me in my progression into playing vinyl!!!! Over the past year I've been steadily collecting and playing vinyl records again.... Now I don't consider myself an "audiophile" (I haven't got mega bucks to play with) but I do enjoy getting the best I can on a limited budget :) like most people I suppose!! So I'll have a look around and you'll be having some questions from me. Cheers!!

Well, at the moment I'm running a NAD 533 turntable with a Rega RB250 arm. Got it for a real snip of t'bay. So far, I've put a 12mm glass platter on it topped by a hard vinyl mat. Replaced the steel bearing with a ceramic one and upgraded the iso feet. Played via a small pre amp to an old Kenwood integrated amp. Got a new tone arm weight coming this week :) It's also got a Goldring Elektra cartridge and that will be my next consideration - What upgrade cartridge??
My musical tastes are very varied but I'm especially fond of Blues, Soul and early R&B, Motown along with the odd bit of Trad Jazz and Classical :)

Looks good. I'd suggest making sure you have good cables before you do big upgrades. Nothing hugely expensive, just decent sounding. If cables aren't OK, the rest can't do its job properly. They can make a surprising difference.

The Goldring is OK and so is more or less any Kenwood amp, so don't rush to replace them.

Sort of!! It's "Authentic R&B" on Stateside a nice lively mix and I do find the stateside vinyl plays really well, even some "rough" looking copies play really well. - The Tom Brown stems from other Knife and outdoor forums that I'm a member of :) :) don't really want loads of different user names!! Getting old and the memory is not what it used to be!! :( :(

Sound advice, I do have good quality leads from the turntable to the pre amp, but could probably do with better ones from that to the main amp. I've just settled on the decks latest position as space is tight. Time to measure up and get some new leads. The amp is superb and I bought it new in the early 90's...The only thing I miss is the ability to control the Bass & Treble as it has set playback modes :( It's never let me down though!!
