Well...found this site through google, but first of all: a hello to all of you! I am not someone who easily joins a forum, so it means something hehe, I am THAT interested in The Art of Sound (multiple threads I had read who got my attention) to subscribe. I like to play vinyl since I am 1. I already switched on the stereo and turn up the volume of my parents' Philips integrated system in the 70's... At primary school I discovered (and play backed many times) The Beatles which had enormous impact...my schoolmates laughed at me cause it was already outdated (although that genious, inventious quality is never outdated). At secondary school the cd player switch had begun. Friends and parents of schoolfriends started leaving/handing out (even for free their vinyl collection). That is where I more or less started as 'a collectior'....I have always liked to put on a record on a table and never stopped doing so. Anyway time during studying was mostly fundings t buy music. My system usually was 2nd/3rd hand or from a fairy or from friend of a friend. I had Sony, Akai, Garrard, Dual, Philips, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. The first step into hifi was a silver/wood finished 70s Marantz amp...where I started to hear suddenly more and an addition of depth or 3d in the sound reproduction... Then after earning my first money after university...I wanted to buy some serious new stuff: I bought Mission 701 (in special offer) speakers and wanted to find a real good, matching amp. I took this serious and visited several hifi shops...and started listening and comparing. Choose from Kenwood, Denon, Sony, Marantz, NAD and finally choose an AMC 3050a integrated...cause the sound I liked the most and it had an above average good phono in with MM/MC switch. Then bought a Pro-ject Debut TT and a Ortofon MC cart. This was 12 years ago...since the I have moved forward (and backward sometimes) in sound reproduction and had many different TT, amps (AMC CVT3030 tube+, NAD 3120+ and 3130+, Cambridge Audio A640 V2, Rega Mira 3+, Yamaha A700+-, Linn Kolektor-, Musical Fidelity A2+, Audio Analogue Verdi Cento --, Rotel 990 Pre+- with Quad 405 poweramp+, Cyrus 2++, Denon PMA-1500+, Pink Faun D-Power+, Audioanalyse PA60++ and now a Sphinx Myth integrated+-. Briefly I have experienced/tested Myryad x, Creek Evolution and Destiny, Exposure 3010S2, Perreaux Audioant 80i, AVM A1), cdplayers (Marantz CD63, Rotel RCD 975, 991, Rega Apollo, now I am using a Saturn with external Pink Faun DAC3.24) and speakers (Mission, Philips, Translator, Wharfedale, Celestion, for a long time I used JM Reynaud Twin Signature's...I currently use Rogers Studio 3 and old B&W DM4's...thinking of buying Harbeth's..in general I like 'the English sound', although the French Reynaud's added a kind of seducing delicacy). Turntables is a too long list...currently I use a Linn LP12, that says enough maybe. Anyway briefly my listening equipment CV. Cheers, Bart

Although I have the tendency to judge a sound by the quality of musical reproduction...I know and now it should be about MUSIC and the enjoyment listening. The music I like is broad: from Alela Diane to J.S. Bach, from Calexico to John Coltrane, from Bob Dylan to Nick Cave, from Pink Floyd to Pergolesi, from Neil Young to Astrid Gilberto and Kate Bush, Fleedwood Mac, Joy Division, Jac Brel...and many many more (with a focus on 60s-70s-80s, jazz, singer/songwriters) haha what an impossible line-up at first glance...all about emotion!

I have sold the Reynaud Twin's to a girlriend (who is still enjoying and me too when I am visiting her)...cause I wanted something different a year ago...although these speakers have a friendly character, they are also dark, closed and had a bit of a flat response...I was and am looking for something more sparkling, 3D, open and precise with higher resolution...well still looking :rolleyes: the B&W DM4 (completely serviced, tweeters cleaned inside and bass reflex rewired -this made a difference-) are a temporary solution, and perform sometimes a bit rough, but they just transfer more information, are more open and direct...what I am wishing for. I listened to Acoustic Energy Reference 1's that sounded quite good, Harbeth 7ES3 (too polite), modern B&W and KEF's (too harsh), Audio Physics (too cold/analytical), Tannoy (gave an (T)annoying treble sometimes), Usher (were nice, but too far from neutral)...so haven't find them yet. Maybe another Harbeth (M30.1?), Spendor, PCM, Opera, Sonus Faber or other/higher model JM Reynaud (Emeraude and Offrande have my interest) would do the job?

Sparkling and open doesn't sound much like the Sonus faber I heard. No idea of the model. PMC might be worth an audition though

Hello Bart from downunder. The closest I have been to Wageninen is a short holiday in Arnhem - we stayed on a houseboat called the drijfpaleis.
Anyway I see you have tried some Perreaux products, as I have - their amps are very good.

The Offrande is the best compact speaker I've ever heard (and I've heard a great many good one's). I'd like a pair myself.

Welcome to AoS! Is it the Wageningen in Holland where you live?

Sorry I haven’t read the rest of the thread... If so, don’t presume that everyone will know that Wageningen is in the Netherlands, especially those who live outside of that country, or who haven’t been to that part of the world…(as personally, I’d never heard of Wagegningen, until I looked it up) ;)

The key, when it comes to filling in your location, if it’s not somewhere immediately obvious, such as ‘New York’ or ‘London’, etc, is always to include the country of origin, thus your location should read as ‘Wageningen, Holland' and/or ‘Wageningen Netherlands’. A geographical area is also useful (in your case Gelderland), although including such isn’t mandatory. I will amend your profile accordingly :)

The reason why we ask for that information (and for first names, which you’ve kindly provided), is to ensure that AoS acts a genuine community of REAL people, with an interest in hi-fi and music, and not simply an ‘Internet Bulletin Board’, populated by ‘faceless entities’, if you see what I mean. It also helps if you’re selling something here for potential buyers to know, at-a-glance, if you’re local to them.

Anyway, that stuff aside, you’ve got a rather interesting system, so get stuck in telling others about it, and if you can, post some pictures of it in our Gallery section. Enjoy the forum, and above all have fun! :cool:
