Hi All I have just joined this forum, I have been into Hi-fi since 1979 when i was given a mid 70's hifi consisting of a strange Philips record deck with a Shure m95ed cartridge on it, a Teleton amplifier with a dodgy output stage and some wharfedale Denton loudspeakers. I now have a valve amp based system all these years later

I have over the years built my own turntable out of thorens parts, built numerous loudspeakers with so so results, I have owned a Linn LP12 with SME 3009 S2 arm that I regret trying to improve then sell on, I should have just left it alone as it was so musical instead of being persuaded by a dealer to spend £300 at the time for a new arm that spoilt it. Ive had Rotel , Nad , Marantz , Sony and Musical Fidelity amps and now I'm the proud owner/keeper of a delightfull custom built valve amp by John Wood , an amazing 100w a channel integrated with a bank of Genalex Gold Lion KT88's that give it the lucid clear musical sound that brings music to life like no transistor amp can. I run this through Kef Cantata speakers of 1979 vintage and are still in imaculate condition

Hello Roger. Welcome to AOS.

That an interesting system you have there. I haven't seen a pair of KEF Cantatas for generations.

Tell us what music you listen to.

Some photos of your system would be good. We have a 'Gallery' section.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.
