Well today was going to be like Christmas day, I had it all planned out. Get up early with the kids allow Mrs L a lie in and when she surfaces out for a blast on the MTB. Return a few hours later, caked in the obligatory mud and sheep s%%t (well I do live in Wales), shower, full English and then onto the days main event; setting up my newly purchased RP6 and Graham Slee Era Gold V (courtesy of Geoff). So far so good.
As part of this process I was moving my turntable 4m to the other side of the room, away from the speakers. So as i began disconnecting and moving my equipment Mrs L was doing her best to remain calm (but I knew deep down she was as excited as I was!). And then it happened, as I was unpacking the Rega I was surprised to find the drive belt attached and then saw the issue with the pully. It looks as though it has come away from its fixing to the deck and moves around freely. Gutted.
But on a positive note the Graham Slee is a revelation. I think the biggest compliment I can give it is to say my vinyl is now moving towards the quality of my CD. It doesn't sound like CD playback but there is just so much more music.
I'll return the RP6 in the week and hopefully have a replacement by next weekend. In the meantime I get to appreciate how good the P3 and Denon DL110 sound.
