View Full Version : Welcomed back an old friend- now need advice on Ortofon cartridges
Dusted the Techie off and have been spinning some tunes on the old girl and really it- with the Stanton 500 sometimes nothing else will do!:)
Got some Sumiko headshells laying around a Denon DL103 is going on one.
On the other Sumiko headshell l am planning to put an Ortofon 2M Red/ 2M Blue- is this a musical combination and winning combo thanks in advance chaps.
 Stupid night work should have said my Techie is lightly modded and has a stock arm.:)

The 2M blue is MUCH better than the red, it sounds great on the standard arm:)
Right been out and purchased the 2M Red, standard Techie headshell or a Sumiko headshell chaps?:)

2M Black.
Yep !! Made seriously sweet music on the stock arm before i upgraded to the Micro Seiki arm.
He's already bought the red......think the same body as the blue though so could be upgraded.

2M Black.
I agree. But as OP has bought the Red not much we can add. I also agree with Freefallrob, the blue is much better than the red by a country mile.

Never heard the red but had the blue. The blue was the reason why I decided I had to have a black and I mean that in the positive sense.
Thought about getting the blue, but am trying the Red to see how l get along with Ortofons in general as a starter.:)
Thanks for the inputs chaps.

I used the Blue with the Sumiko head shell as its a bit heavier than the techy one and it sounded more authoritive IMO
