WTD ProAc speakers

Hi Guys

I am interested in trying out some speakers from the ProAc camp. Preferably bookshelf like the 1SC,D1,D2 or small floorstanders. Is there anything out there?

Wise choice. I have messed around with various speakers from a wide range of high-end manuacturers and for me Proac are the most musically satisfying.

I have recently acquired a pair of Proac D18's on the used market for a good price. Ideal for my listening room and well suited to the vast majority of UK living rooms. It is all the speaker most people will ever need. They sound a lot larger than they actually are. This speaker is the sweet spot within the Proac range from a sound per pound value point of view imo. I have heard from a reliable source that the recently released Prooac D20R are better but they retail at £2,650.

A good 'budget' Proac standmount speaker is the Studio 110. It can be had used for around £500. Also, the floorstanding Studio 130 is a cracker for the price. I actually preferred it to the more costy Studio 140. Simple, 2-way loudspeaker design is where Proac excel imo.

The other benefit with Proac is ease of amplifier matching - they are not demanding in terms of power or current. Just avoid anything with a brightly lit top end. Valve amplification, class A or valve sounding solid state are the best options. Quality rather than power or current. They are a cost-efective solution in this respect.
