I saw these and thought they were early Spendor BC1s, as the grille looks very similar.
The similarity is also in the bass/mid. and HF1300, as per the BC1. It has a serious crossover, with a very large auto - transformer.
One for collectors of early BBC style 2 cu. ft. boxes. Opening bid of £499.
Am I tempted ? I don't think another pair of those size cabinets would be welcomed by my Wife...

Indeed, it's easy-peasy, and far easier for folk to see what it is you’re referring to, than having to trawl through ebay to find it! :)

I know that they are Rogers/BBC and all that but £500 to start? Seems a bit much to me for what they are.

Yes, I agree. Anything remotely 'BBC' can command high prices, especially from the overseas collectors.
About £200 ( £220 max. ) I might have been interested.

Agreed £200, £250 is reasonable to me. They do appear to be in very good condition. I don't know what a far eastern collector would be preared to pay, although I have noticed that LS3/5a prices seem to have come down a bit from what they were two years ago. Some folk made out like bandits during that period.

Thing is now, these - and the BC1's that were developed parallel to them (and were bought by the Beeb in large quantities, unlike 'their own' 3/6...) are now collectors' items. Sod the fact that the main driver suspensions may be shot to pieces (gone flat, although these don't look too bad surprisingly) and the comparable BC1 is actually very slightly better in a direct shoot-out of NEW samples - we sold them both at the time, the BBC label is enough!

The other thing of course is that NEW derivatives from Stirling and Spendor (the SHL5+ is a rather different animal IMO) are so expensive, although the incredible price hike Spendor have given their SP1/2R (improved etc. etc.) makes the Stirling 3/6 look to be much better value, especially when the Graham 5/9 and Harbeth equivalents are three grand or more  All priced for the far east now.

He is selling some B110s, a single B200 and a pair of NOS T27s. £600 opening bid on the T27s ( !! ) I bought a pair of NOS T27s, but no where near that price.
I will be surprised if he actually gets bids on anything. At £499, those LS3/6 speakers are a bit too much, as we have agreed here.
But then again, those obsessive Collectors cannot be ruled out...

I would like to hear the Stirling LS3/6 on my own system, as I use something similar in the Harbeth HL Monitors.

They went for £590.
