headphone recommendations

hi, id like some suggestions for some new headphones please, i can go to £250.though i dont mind paying less;) im using sennheiser hd598 at the moment, very comfy and a smooth easy to listen to sound, however they seem to lack life/excitement, theyre a bit boring! im driving them with a caiman mk11, id welcome any suggestions, thanks jim

If you like the senn sound have a look and see if you can remove the internal foams....I run 650s with a bm2 and love the combo. The foams should be removable after you take the ear pads off----youtube is your friend!!!

I started headphone listening with a few pairs of Senns,working up the cost ladder.However,like you i found them ,in the end,comfy but a tad boring.I spent a small fortune on headphone amps then realised it was the phones.Then i got a pair of Grado SR80's.Compared to Senns it was like being on stage with the band rather than sitting in the car park.I now have the SR80's,SR325's and RS1's all of which i love.Try some SR80's you might like them,boring they ain't...

Well it's been awhile but having listened to several pairs of Beats recently I still think the ones I know from the past are better not sure if you can get them my first choice would be Jecklin Floats or perhaps a pre owned pair of Stax

AKG are a very well regarded headphone I heard a signature model many years ago which were superb but very pricey ! Happy listening .
