monster imf speakers on gumtree

Anyone after some large speakers..I've heard these and they are superb...If this is breaking rules please remove..these are not mine by the way and it's a ride out to Newcastle upon Tyne to get them...and at this price...are for nowt...

You need an amp with HIGH DAMPING FACTOR to drive any vintage IMF - I sold them all at the time.. Recommended would be vintage Crown - a D-60 has just enough power and a later D-75 would be better. We sold loads of D-150A's with IMF's and it's still a fine power amp if not abused over the years.

The ALS40 was always a beefy, bassy speaker and IME it should be used well away from walls on 12 to 14" stands. These look to have intact mid drivers too. Vinyl sources MUST be chosen with huge care as any mid bass 'bloom' will be magnified by this speaker. We cheated and often used master tape sources at KJ - no bass issues at all with a suitable driving amp :lol:

HUGE fun for £100 if you match them right. A recap may be necessary and check the foam inside for crumbling, as I understand this can be an issue with the larger transmission line models from this mid 70's era :)

Damn, thats a bit far....I just have a suitable pair of B200s as well. Ronnie's big Pioneer would love these. Shame, I just need a seventh pair of speakers.

My memory is not that good, but I think I have a recollection that original bass units are not the same as each other, but one was a B200.
