I’ve had this for about 9 months now, I’m very happy with it but my head’s just been turned by the recent arrival of a Garrard 401, I don’t have the time, space or cash to have two TT’s so after much deliberation I’ve decided to see what interest there is for the SL 12000.

The arm is the extremely rare (possibly only 2 exist) Funk Firm FX-1200 reworking of the original Technics bearing assembly.

I have rewired this with Cardas Litz 33, from the Michell Silver Plated clips to the MS Audio Gold Plated Star Line RCA’s, with all connections made with Cardas Quad Eutectic Solder.

I have also upgraded the original counterweight with custom 2 piece solid Brass counterweights.

The original headshell spacers are included to allow for fine tuning of headshell weight.
The bearing needs no further explanation other than it’s the Mike New Bearing.

The power supply is the Qwin / 6L6 design including a new regulator, built on boards manufactured by Ken.

The stock transformer has been replaced with a brand new Toroidal transformer and the PSU is housed in a repurposed Aluminium case with sorbathane feet.

With the exception of removing the transformer and replacing C1 with a 1000uF 50v Nichicon the SL 1200 remains stock I haven’t made any PCB or switch mods, the original cabling is still in place to reinstall the original transformer it has just been tucked inside the plinth.

No modification to any of the plinth material has been made, no additional damping, nothing’s been cut away, enlarged or butchered in any way. Where parts have been removed they have been kept and will be included with the TT. Sorbathane feet have been fitted and the original feet are also included.

This SL 1200 started life as a DJ Deck, when I bought it from eBay it was sold as “never used as a DJ Deck” but the words “Ross’s deck’s” had been scribbled over in permanent marker on the box. Not that this really matters as the PSU, bearing and platter have been replaced I only mention it for the sake of full disclosure.
There are 2 scuffs to the alumium top plate but other than these the SL 1200’s in excellent condition.

I'd take £1250.00 from another AoS member for the full package and really would prefer collection. Sending would be awkward and would have to be sent in at least 2 packages, the arm would have to be removed as although it fits in the original box it is not offered a huge amount of protection.
