Unusual upward facing speakers

Hi all
Just picked up these strange speakers,they have some serious drivers in them.
look handmade but good quality.
Anyone know anything about this design or the speakers in them.
The top speakers are goodmans,but the basket is closed solid not open like a normal driver.
I searched the internet but could not see anything on this design or the goodmans.
The bottom divers are fully chromed! Never seen that before.
They are heavy,will post some more pics in a reply.
Hope someone on here can shed some light on these speakers.

One of the images reveals what looks to be isobarik loading, a technique Linn used to extend bass response. So how do they sound ?

They sound great, i only heard them at the place of purchase.
From what i heard there was plenty of bass,and a full sound.
And that was only with a very small technics amp, as far as i know the person i bought them off told me
they were her fathers.
She also said that these were the ones he used, there were heaps of speakers there.
These ones intrigued me.
What do you think?

Look a bit like a home-made Sonab (or similar) omni-directional job. Must be a DIY or a kit. Chrome driver looks interesting but I only see two drivers per cab so not sure about the isobaric loading? I like the vinyl finish, looks like they came out of a 'Seventies nightclub.

Looks like the top speaker with the closed basket is being used as a reflector for the speaker underneath, to give an omnidirectional radiation pattern.

There is no isobarik loading, the volume between drivers would need to be sealed for that. I used the technique once with some cheapy drivers for a sub, to reasonable effect.

I'd guess them to be home made. It's not good practise having the mid/upper unit sharing the main cabinet volume with the bass driver.
