Reckoned by many to be an excellent arm once the initial production teething problems had been sorted out.

I have seen one on a 160 but it was slightly too long for comfort . would be fine if the plinth was a bit bigger. Should work very well though.

If the original 774, then it's an excellent arm - check VE for more info, lots of owners there. I run a rewired one on my soled lp12, no desire to change.

I wouldn't get rid of mine, it's a very good low mass arm IMO. Lots of adjustments possible, even length to some extent. Variable damping, but the little red plugs are hard to replace, although you could use something completely different if you had to. I got a replacement bearing assembly from Mission, but that was a long time ago!

I've been using original Mission 774 arms for thirty years and won't use anything else now, as it's a super sounding arm that works with any cartridge. I now own three of these and have used them on a variety of turntables without problems. I found the Mission better than the Linn Ittok that it replaced and far better than any of the Rega arms. It sounds superior to any of the Japanese universal headshell arms I've tried. The Mission is easily upgraded as well if you want to.

If the TD160 has the SME mounting, then a 774 with similar fixing should work fine.

I used a 774 on a TD160 and then transferred it to an LP 12. That was over 30 years ago and it's still there. With the same cartridge, an Entre MC. Bought for about £90 in 1978, it has had 4 new styli courtesy of the Expert Stylus Company.

It's a great, extremely versatile, massively under-rated arm. I had one for 20 years. It would be my choice of the usual vintage suspects, and unbeatable for the money they fetch 2nd hand if you can get a good one. I recently let a hardly used near perfect one go on a systemdek for silly money.

I've been using one on my TT2 for about 18 months. Should have done it years ago, its a brilliant arm!

I used an original '774' on a TD160 Super for years.. I only swapped it out for the Mayware unipivot.

Strangely enough, I did the exact opposite!

Now i don't care use a SME '3009, S2 Imp' still wiill always choose the low mass route.. I loved the Mayware midrange & the fact their was no bearings..

On my third 774, now on a Planar 25.
Had the first in 1979 on a JVC QL7 and loved it then, and very pleased to be using one again now.

Packed with good engineering choices and way ahead of its time.

I've been using one for thirty years. I've tried other arms, but not been happy with them. I had a couple of upgraded Regas and each time I switched back to the 774 the sound just opened up and became more natural. My Ittok sounded unruly in comparison too, hopeless with a Decca, whereas the Mission is just fine.

I just love the idea of a pick-up arm sounding 'unruly.'
