I'm looking for a balanced solid state line-level preamp. Something like a Musical Fidelity A1 FBP would be ideal, or possibly a Meridian 502. Budget is up to about £500. I would also consider trading my Meridian 568 processor and / or 556 power amp.

Hi I am not selling mine but can recommend the project RS pre it's head
And shoulders above the A1 FBP. Which I have also owned , it's a little over your
Budget new but worth every penny and upgrade able with a separate PS at a
Later date , worth consideration
Cheers

There was a Plinius CD LAD on the wam, bang on budget, and known to be spot on. I know the current seller and I owned it before him. Brilliant pre too!

Thanks chaps. Looks like the Plinius has sold, unfortunately. The Project looks interesting, will keep it in mind but would prefer a used item for now.

Still looking, the budget may be flexible for the right preamp!

Thanks Paul, but the Parasound wasn't quite to my taste when I last tried it.

How about something a bit different? I use one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Meixing-MingDa-MC-9-Passive-PreAmplifier-MC9-New-/270466256529

It's amazing!

It's not exactly passive, it uses transformer matching and has slight gain. Similar principle to the highly regarded Music First TVC pre-amps.

I bought mine from this seller.

Thanks, but I need a preamp with more than one input, and preferably remote controlled.

It Cost How Much!?!

U have a Krell KRC3, boxed with original remote if this is of interest. Very good condition.
