Yep, that's the way :eyebrows: I haven't paid for a haircut in over 15 years & at a minimum of £5 a shot that's a nice saving me thinks ;) Not sure how much a haircut is these days but i could never get a reduction when using trimmers & it didn't make sense to me

Looks like i saved over £2000  Better have a  to celebrate

Trimmers...pah! You hippy ;)

Time to come out in support of the baldies...

This photo was from a couple of months ago, the expression is of a man who's organised a bird watching trip to the North Solway, but failed miserably to realise that the ducking tide was out...

You've got more hair than I had at 30 mate...if it was going to go it would have gone by now.

I think I gave up on what was left of my barnett at Glasto '95, too sweaty for a trimmer, time for the BIC, and it's a damned site easer without a mirror...

Necessarily I have a large hat collection... :)

Impressive collection by the way, if you ever buy racks I've found these to be fairly good, if a little pricey... RED Displays

Me, i don't like paying much for anything Will, i built the racks myself ;) Might take a bit of time but i get exactly what i want at the end of the day :)

As for the shaving head bit, i have given it thought but i have two rather large dents in the back of my head & these would be a pita to shave :eyebrows: No idea how they got there either

Doesn't appear to have affected me though :lolsign: :mental:

Yep, one of the (in)famous Barbary Macaques that roam the rock in Gibraltar. A safetly zipped and secured rucksack is no problem to the nimble fingered lunch thieves. :)

They rapidly decend upon you and empty your belongings of anything that doesnt look edible, camera GPS, guide book all thoroughly examined before being promptly thrown on the deck.

There are racks on three walls at the moment & significant overspill  I have room to get more racks up on a couple of walls though but one has to stay clear as it's got a 120" screen on it for my projector.

I have been removing stuff & putting it elsewhere, i tend to keep anything that gets listened to or watched most often closer to hand ;)

I lived in India for a bit and lost count of the times i was robbed by monkeys.
I felt safer when i lived in Camberwell. Plus i scared of a gang of them in our yard after they started ripping up the plants ( i pointed a broom at them as they think its a gun ). They got their own back by going up on my roof, ripping my washing of the line , and shitting all over my clothes.
I think Jane Goodall would agree with me when i say monkeys are just very naughty adolescents.

You're not kidding. When I saw them in Gib, a guy was feeding one of the apes M&Ms one at a time from a large bag he had 'concealed' in the pocket of his cargo shorts. Big mistake. 10 seconds later his shorts were in shreds around his ankles and a very smug looking ape was munching from a large bag of M&Ms.

That was my PSR-4600; a 'home' model but loaded with many 'pro' features. From there I went to an SY-85 and then a Motif 6 (both full pro workstations).

Now my keyboard is simply a USB controller, everything is on the Mac and done with software these days - and the flexibility trounces the old separate machines. Still, that was the way in the day. ;)

We all expected our stomachs to fly out of the top of our heads when jumping, but it was not like that at all.

There was actually no falling feeling at all. Really bizarre, it felt slow, easy and peaceful (!).

If you've visited theme parks and been thrown around in fast rides, you'll have experienced more physically :¬)

you lads haven't seen bad weather until you've spent a winter on Orkney, it's not the snow that gets you, it's the 120mph+ wind and rain

Marco
24-04-2012, 22:29
Love Orkney - been there, but not in the winter!

Loved it around Scapa Flow, and Kirkwall was a lovely little town. The brochs were also fab, as were all the textile shops (Del has a degree in fashion and textiles, and her own loom, which she weaves fabric on, so she was in heaven!) and the Italian chapel and the Standing Stones of Stenness.

One of my abiding memories, however, was of the amazing seafood - probably the best I've tasted anywhere in the world!!

I used to live at the Bay of Skaill and Finstown, i did my last years of school on Orkney, a great place to visit but a bad place to be out of work and bleak as hell in the winter

Marco
24-04-2012, 22:58
Can't remember if we visited there or not. I've been trying to remember where we stayed when we were there. It was in a really nice country house hotel, near the beach, somewhere north of Kirkwall, if I remember.

Any ideas?

Bleak actually doesn't really bother me, as I find such weather conditions 'atmospheric'. As long as I'm inside in front of a nice roaring log fire, candles lit, and with a bottle of malt and some nice munchies (and Del) beside me, I couldn't give a flying f*ck what the weather was like outside! ;)

Me too. So many people moan about our lovely temperate weather. When they go on about it being effin' cold I just say it's wonderfully bracing or some such flippant remark ;)

Marco
25-04-2012, 06:37
Indeed - I don't think that I could handle living in a climate where one was baking in the sun for nearly 365 days of the year. I like to experience different weather conditions, and watch how the colours of the landscape change accordingly...

Oh, and at least we're safe from earthquakes and such like! No, there's a lot to be said for the good old British weather! :)

Me at my Bro's Gothic Wedding... I'm second from the right in the frilly shirt. :D

Just a few things i can't get into my head regarding this Gothic Lark. Since they are usually called 'Goths' for short! & it's obvious they have zero to do with the Germanic tribe of the same name from way back in Roman times, so i count out the influence on that part.. The other term 'Gothic' is what i refer to as architectural Church designs circa approx 13th-16th century!!.. This where i then draw a blank, somewhat puzzled!

The only other thing is maybe Dracula, Frankenstein type fictional, this maybe so with the style of cloths these people seem to wear!

So what is the influence? is it just an image because they like this side of Sci-Fi or are they attracted to the subject of death, occult etc maybe? for what it's worth, my brother-in-law is one, (btw: the music he listerns to is so crap it's not worth mentioning so we'll not go to that dept).

Just intrested that's all.

I must admit im not impressed one bit about the long hair being part of the fashion, in the same way i wasnt impressed in heavy Rockers from the 80's having long hair

Macca
01-08-2012, 12:37
I think the reference is to 19th century 'Gothic' literature - Dracula, Frankenstein which was named after the architectural style.

These days it is important not to confuse the Goth kids with the Emo kids as these are, apparantly, two very different things. To make matters worse, 'Twilight' has commericalised and mainstreamed the whole thing so now it is difficult to tell the difference between the serious Goth/Emo and those who are just playing at it. :mental:

BTW I was a long haired eighties rocker :ner:

I've never had long hair in my life, as I've never thought that I'd suit it. When I was younger, if I let my hair grow a bit, it just used to curl up annoyingly at the back and sides, and I'd look like Shirley Temple - not a good image! :nono:

I think that long hair can look good on some guys, providing that it is thick, healthy, straight and scrupulously clean, preferably tied back in a neat ponytail. There's nothing worse than thin, lanky and greasy long hair, which was in evidence all too often with guys in the 60s and 70s! :spew:

However, IMO, you can only get away with long hair up until a certain age, before looking like a tit (as it starts getting scraggly and grey), rather like 50+ year old men walking around in bikers jackets (who don't own a motorbike)! :D :mental:

Lol - but you've got pretty thick hair, and are still relatively young, so can get away with it for now... ;)

No grey hair here yet, but it's slowly getting thinner! I just keep it super-short (cut every 3 weeks by a salon-trained female hairdresser I've known for years, who calls at home), and use a little bit of wax or gel.
