Modifying 1210 tonearm

Need a little help people. I want to modify my 1210 tonearm to go with my denon dl103r. Now I've read that you need a heavy, high mass tonearm to go with the denon. Is there anyone who could give me an ideal overall weight of the tonearm including headshell? I will buy a new headshell but don't fancy adding weight spacers - thinking sumiko but have seen that some users here have gone with this combination only to then need further weight. I plan to rewire the arm with cardas straight to phono plugs and want to dampen the arm with a run of silicon along the inside/bottom of the arm as far in as I can go (thinking of using a syringe).

One more question - should the wire be pulled fairly taut in the arm?

The standard Techie arm with a rigid cast headshell will work fine with the 103R and shouldn't need more mass. If you're rewiring, I'd be inclined not to have the wires taut. If you want to stop them moving, pack them with something light and fibrous. Cotton wool? Kapok? (this would also damp the arm tube a bit)

Silicone has comparatively moderate damping properites, is messy to use and a bugger to remove.

Don't wire it taut, that will hinder proper bearing movement. Don't put silicone in the arm, it will eff it up for any future modifications you may want to do.

The aux stub-end weight and the added weight headshell will make the stock arm work quite well with a DL103

I've used the AT very successfully with the stock tonearm. Looks fab too.

I have an Ortofon LH2000 headshell I'm going to use with my DL103R. From memory it weighs 16.2 gms. Should be ideal.
