Having recently been bitten by the Shahinian bug, I am considering selling my much loved Proac D28 floorstanding speakers.
These are about 4 years old and I've had them for the last 2 years - I settled on them after doing a lot of speaker swapping.
Really fabulous speakers and excel at everything - soundstage, drive, mids - truly the best all round speakers with fantastic bass for 2-way floorstanders.
They are incredibly versatile and musical and I've had fabulous results with everything from a Leben CS600 to Sugden A21SE and Conrad Johnson amps. Recently, I have been using Croft amps, a Sonneteer Orton and a Virtue T-amp to great effect.

In perfect working order. There is a small chip to veneer on the top back right corner of one of the speakers, but nor visible when in use. There's a close up photo of the chip with a 1 pence coin for scale

I dont have boxes and as these are reasonably large (though with small footprint and very domestic friendly) speakers.
So - COLLECTION ONLY please from SW London.

I am looking at £1400 firm. These are £3475 new and the price reflects the tiny chip to the veneer.
Original screw on carpet spikes included.

Hi
Will these speakers work fairly close to the wall - say 4"

Thanks

I had them fairly close to the back wall - about 6-9 inches - and they were absolutely fine. The downward firing port and side vents help immensely here and make them quite easy to place.
However, not sure about being close to side walls. How much distance can you give the speakers from the side walls?

Thanks for the feedback.

Side walls are about 9 to 12 inches away.

Martin, I have a pair of D28's and whilst I don't have them quite as close as 4" you can see from the pic that they aren't exactly in the middle of the room either. I would say they are the most "unfussy" speakers I've ever owned in terms of placement and the sound quality is truly outstanding and fatigue free. They just disappear into the music. Never say never but it'll take the discovery of something truly outstanding for me to part with them.

Thanks Bob. Really nice and clean looking set up you have over there.
Agree with you - I played around a lot with the positioning of the D28s and was surprised to find they sounded pretty darn good in most positions!
They have, by far, been the best all-round speakers I've had and they've let me have tons of fun with amp swapping.
Its a struggle to let them go, but I do fancy having more of a play with Shahinians and simply dont have the space in a London house to keep both.

Hi Andy
I've only had them in my lounge - which as in most Victorian terraced houses is long and narrow.
I have them (you can see the first photo) about 8 feet apart and my listening position is about 8-9 feet from the speakers. They are pretty close to the rear wall and I've had no problems with bass.
My guess is they should work well in a small room, because of the downward firing port and also small footprint. While each speaker is about 1 metre tall with spikes, they take up very little floorspace

Thanks for the info Bob. Sounds like they would fit the bill, but missed the boat on this pair. :eyebrows:
