Hello to everyone and thanks for the forum.

A bit of a late returnee to HiFi, I am hoping to build a starter system for over the coming months comprising turntable, CD player, tuner, integrated amp and bookshelf speakers, probably used equipment.

Am thinking Arcam/Rega etc.

Will have a read around the posts and check out the "For Sale" section and see what's out there!

Hi John, welcome to AoS :) The pre-loved route can be a cost-effective one, particularly if you buy gear that has a high resale value if you don't like it. I've bought a number of items this way and have been able to sell them on with much less hardship to the wallet compared with new gear. What music do you enjoy?

Welcome to AoS John.

Good luck with your search - Arcam/Rega sounds like a good start.

What are your tastes in music?

Hello John, welcome to AOS.

An Arcam & Rega starter system is it? Well as Barry says, you won't go far wrong with those makes.

What music do you listen to?

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi guys, thanks for the friendly welcome.

Sorry, forgot to mention musical preferences.

In no particular order; all the guys in The Highwaymen, Hank Williams, Randy Travis, Oak Ridge Boys, The Issacs, Robert Cray, Albert Collins, Madeleine Peyroux, Leonard Cohen, Chet Atkins, Aaron Neville amongst others.

Hoping to build cheapish (£1K) system that will focus on making music first and foremost.

Arcam A18 already on route, thinking of adding Rega RP1 Performance, Arcam CD17, Rega RS1 speakers and maybe a tuner at a later stage. I've heard these components together before and enjoyed them.

What do you think? :)
