View Full Version : speaker cables
Just a quick query, I'm sure its probably been covered before though I haven't come across it.
On a short speaker cable run, is it likely to affect the sound or balance if the lengths were different ? (eg. one 2m length and one 4m length)

Nope!
if you had one 2m long and another 200m long you might hear a difference, but I'd not worry in your case.
(even though I measure mine to the last millimetre, but I'm just a fusspot & a bit OCD maybe )
I'd say if the cables are of sensible quality (not QED Micro!), then you'd be hard put to tell 1m and 10m lengths used together. Even with Naim amps, 5m and 8m runs were usual for us with absolutely NO ill or subjective effects!
Cheers Guys,
..... definitely not thinking QED micro ....my experience with their Silver Anniversary has kinda tarnished QED for me when it comes to speaker wire !!!
Just looking into upgrading to TQ's or similar on a tight budget using the shortest lengths I can get away with.

Save your money.
I had TQ Blacks, I now have Van Damme 6mm Blue, a quarter of the price, 98% of the performance.

Funny you saying that, I've just hooked up some 4mm Gotham cable which Ali Tate chucked in with the D'Marken 7's and they sound great. A noticeable step up in SQ from the Fisual Superflex I was using. My hankering to splash out on some pricey cables has waned now !!
 :mental:

Amazon are selling that stuff, but it was in a 15 metre run. even at that it was not silly money....think it was about £80; so about £5 a metre.
