With all this discussion about cartridge loading that's currently taking place in a number of current threads I thought I'd join in!
I am using a Lyra Delos played through a 1:16 SUT into a Croft 25R preamp and in all honesty it sounds pretty good to me. However, if I'm understanding things correctly this will be loading the cartridge at around 180 ohms. With an internal resistance of 8.2 ohms and general guidance that an MC cartridge is best loaded at around ten times its internal resistance this would suggest a load of around 80-90 ohms might be best...?
I was wondering if anyone else who might be using a Delos has had any experience of trying different loads and if so what results they've had.
I did recently send a PM to AlfaGTV who mentioned in another thread that he was also using a Delos with a 1:16 SUT and that he had arranged a switching system enabling him to vary the cartridge loading to ask what his experiences might have been but I've not heard back from him thus far. Perhaps he might see this thread?
