A monumentally misjudged decision, leaving Rega and project laughing all the way to the bank.

What they should have done was brought out a new SL1200, SL10 or SP10. Or maybe a new SLP1200 cd player (with streaming ability built in I suppose). They were the Technics landmark products and would certainly get everyone's attention, instead it is a new power amp (zzzzzzz) and some big but disappointingly conventional-looking speakers. And a streamer (zzzzzzzzzz...).

Didn't they sell off any remaining 1200 tooling ? No prizes for guessing who bought it....

I read that some of the tooling wore out and rather than spend a significant sum on replacing it they decided to cease production. How true that is i have no idea.
But if it is true and someone bought the remaining tooling they would still be missing a bit.

I very much doubt that TT pictured is made in house by Pioneer. Chinese OEM I reckon.
