eBay bidder message -- what would you do?

I have some CDs up for auction on eBay at the moment.

I have just received the following question from a prospective bidder about a CD I have described as being in Excellent condition ...

"Please, can you tell me more about the condition of this item. Are there any scratches, hairlines or other (tiny) marks of scuff on the disc? Are the booklet and other paperwork undamaged? I am also interested in if this cd was made in the EU. Thank you in advance for answering. Best regards"

To me, it looks like trouble waiting to happen. The guy seems hyper-fussy.
So I put him on my Blocked Bidders list.

Do you think that's fair? :scratch:

Are you absolutely sure that it is the same disc, or a different pressing? Nobody asks about the state of the booklet unless it is important. And the fact that there are loads of watchers should have the alarm bells ringing.

Is he maybe going to try and sell it as new? I wouldn't block him, I'd just tell him it is as described, i.e. used, but in excellent condition.

I wouldn't block him either, I would just answer his questions. He sounds like a perfectionist and probably won't be interested if it isn't quite as he wants ...

Me too I'm afraid. The slightest hint that suggests a fusspot or odd character and they're blocked (about thirty on my list so far).

I know from experience what can happen otherwise.

"I have played the Cd and it plays fine - I have given it a visual inspection and it looks to be in excellent condition to me, but it is an old CD and I would not be surprised if it had some very minor marks on it if closely inspected.
If you wish perfection, I guess I would advise you not to bid."

and I've just had this response ...

"Thank you for your quick and honest reply. I will make up my mind.
Best regards,"

Thats ebays big achillies heel for small sellers, in that they automatically takes the buyers side. Its why I am usually now reluctant to sell on the site now. shame as Ive been using them since the day, but its not what it was sadly.

I think a wise choice Jerry. Just not worth the risk. At best he may push the end price up a few quid. At worst a nightmare which drags on for weeks.
