I have just ordered a Mike New bearing and it arrived today. All I can say is WOW. What a superb piece of engineering. I once worked in the Hi-Fi trade and I can honestly say I don't think many TT's had a bearing this good.
I'm amazed how well it rotates when the plater is on, you only need the slightest touch for it to rotate and keep on rotating.
Here are some close up shots and also a video before fitment.

Welcome too the Mike New Club Andrew :D
Now you need the ETP platter , Christmas is coming , Put one on your want list :D
Great pics of the bearing, Andrew - undoubtedly the best I've seen, and really show in no uncertain terms what a quality item it is!
Enjoy rediscovering your record collection!! :gig:
Marco.
P.S Every time I see a pic of a MK5G Techy, it makes me realise how much classier it looks, compared with the humble MKII... ;)

As a fellow proud owner of a modded minty MK5g myself I'd have to agree, he he ! (no offence like !) :D
yeah right!
Of course, just LOOK at them both side by side! The difference in appearance isn't subtle... :eyebrows:

Thank you!
Of course, I agree. You cant possibly compare the 2 bearings side by side. Mike weighs in @ 420grams and the Standard comes in @ 100g.
And just look at them side by side (bearings that is!)

I'm not saying that the standard bearing is poor by any means ,after all it's served me and countless others well for years but Mike's is special.
