After over six months waiting my Arkless Turbo phono stage finally arrived yesterday.
I swapped out my normal Naim Prefix and Avondale psu for it last night and managed to get a few sides in before pub time.
I have done more extensive listening today and yesterdays initial thoughts have been confirmed, it is a stunner!!
My vinyl system has never sounded so good it's almost like I am listening to a new system, there is so much more texture and timbre to instruments, everything sounds so natural and better defined, and it grooves with the best of them.
So I am one happy bunny and it was well worth the wait, giant killer is an often abused term in hi-fi but not in this case.
Rest of the front end is LP12 with later Sole subchassis, Ekos2 arm and Troika cartridge.

I had one and a 'standard' modded version, nothing in it between the two amps IMO.

I thought the standard modded amp was stunning but wasn't much more impressed by the Turbo version, I sold both of them and bought a Firebottle Mk 1 valve phono.

All three amps are excellent IMO especially at the price of them but the Firebottle designer is a tad more stable:eyebrows:

Well what I mean is that Alan doesn't take nine months to mod an amp as far as I know then goes missing for months:eek:

I was as you know a Turbo owner , Enjoyed my time with the unit , now have a different set up


The Turbo is still with us , just up the road from me ;)

Yes I know where yours is, mine went to Yorkshire and replaced a very expensive phono amp, the new owner said that there was nothing between the two amps so he kept the Turbo and sold off the expensive one.
